Oracles of the Horned Father

I commonly used to seek an oracle from the Horned Father at the start of every week. It is a nice practice, and one that I should resume.

All-God, Half-Man,
And Beast-Below,
What do your children
Need to know?

THERE IS NO FRUIT
FROM A WITHERED SHOOT,
AND THERE IS NO MOON
AT NOON.

The oracle came through the letter Xi, the first letter of the Greek word XEROS, a shoot.

He means to advise us not to attempt the impossible. You cannot draw blood from a stone. Stop fantasizing. Face reality. There are no grapes on a dead vine, so stop pretending that there are. Things aren't moving not because "the time isn't right," but because the thing is an impossibility.

Sometimes He will give advice. Sometimes He will make a prediction for the week, as in this nugget from January 2022:

Horned Father,
With all speed,
Tell me what
Advice I need!

A PERSON SOON
DEPARTS YOUR LIFE.
BE HE FRIEND,
OR BE HE FOE,
WISH HIM WELL,
AND LET HIM GO.

And that, indeed, happened. The oracle came through the letter Tau and the symbolism of Saturn.

His answers sometimes seem to be both advice and prediction:

Bull Father, Deer Father,
Father of Horns,
What is approaching?
Roses or thorns?

BOTH, MY SONS!
REMEMBER MY BLESSINGS
ARE SOMETIMES MIXED:

A BRIGHT SIGN MAY COME FROM A DARK CORNER.
FACE IT.
HELP MAY BE OFFERED FROM AN UNHELPFUL HAND.
TAKE IT.
THE ELIXIR OF LIFE MAY BE SERVED IN AN UGLY CUP.
DRINK IT.
EVEN A FOOL CAN SPEAK THE TRUTH.
HEAR IT.

ONE OF THESE, THIS WEEK, IS FOR YOU.
