Holda, a Northern Goddess

I mentioned previously two women marrying into my ancestral family in the 1700s, whereupon all the Ruths, Johns, Matthews, Marys, Marks, etc.---anything sounding like a Biblical name---got dropped for naming children. Instead, the children all got highly creative and interesting names. I counted 6 witch names for girls and 13 witch names for boys all in that generation. People had big families back then, so I haven't had time to trace out names from people outside of my direct ancestral lines. Today, however, I clicked on the name of a sister of someone in my direct ancestral line, and was greatly amused to see a child named Holda Crowfoot. If that is not a witch name, I don't know what is.
