Another instance of the Queen of Heaven speaking as clear as crystal on a matter of great importance to a Seeker.

FACTS: A female Seeker, 37 years old, accidentally forwarded an inappropriate visual email joke to an office email list. Before anyone could complain, she went to the Personnel Department of her company and confessed the error. The Personnel Department told her that they would conduct an investigation and get back to her within the week. She telephoned the Magister within the hour with this question: "Will I lose my job?" I telephoned her back within the next hour:

JUDGMENT: Yes, the company will fire you in five days, on February 21.

RESULT: And so it was.

It is not necessary, per se, to understand astrology to practice the Craft of the Wise. But it helps indirectly in various ways to know its basic cosmology and symbolism. It informs the symbols and meanings of our Sabbats. It can be used as a means of answering divinatory questions, from finding lost objects and people, to predicting the course of relationships, to determining the causes of illness in the body (within reason, if one is not a medical doctor), to predicting elections, sporting events, and the outcomes of civil and criminal litigation. It can show us how an individual, too, or even a dynasty or country, fits within the Great Pattern. It also keeps us grounded in the structure of reality. As Witches, we are sometimes called upon by the Gods to be the instruments of shaping reality in certain directions through our spells and magical workings. If we do not face the reality of something as it actually is, we are unlikely to be able to shape that reality successfully into something else.

In this posting, I again look at astrology's marvelous divinatory form. For some predictions, one does not have to wait very long to see if one is correct. A sporting event, for instance. Or finding a lost object. Or picking the day when a package will arrive in the mail, or determining when a friend will call you next. Or predicting if the Seeker will get a certain job he has applied for. Apprentice astrologers practice on such things regularly and can get immediate satisfaction. I, myself, have twice predicted the day when the Seeker would receive a job offer, and I sat in the Seeker's office as the telephone call came. Very gratifying indeed!

But some predictions are slower coming to fruition, and this chart is an example. One of the benefits to practicing astrology for a long time is seeing even one's long term predictions come to pass. And if you receive personal instruction in the art--a lineage of sorts--amazing charts and predictions get passed down from teacher to student. This is such a chart, more than worthy of being used to instruct others.

FACTS: The Seeker was a woman in her mid-20s. She was not dating anyone at the time of the question. She asked:

Will I ever get married? If so, when?
How or where will we meet?
What does he look like?
What does he do for a living?
Will I be happy in the marriage?

The only other note I would add to the chart above is that the Part of Marriage is at 15 Gemini 11, making Mercury the dispositor or symbol of the marriage, itself.

I will not go through the entire process of judgment (which took me 4 1/2 pages when writing it out), but this was my answer to the Seeker:

JUDGMENT: Yes, you will get married, in a bit less than 5 years from the time of the question. Both of you are not yet living in the city where you will meet, so you will both move to a common city in the future. You will meet at an evening class, library, church, on holiday, or through a dating service. His build will be muscular but wiry, with thick dark hair and a darker complexion. You will be quite magnetically attracted to his masculine charms. He has a visible scar on one foot. He will be mainly interested in himself and his own needs, although he will be concerned about your womanhood and fertility. As for job, he will likely be in the finance industry such as a stocks or commodities broker, but other possibilities are working with chemistry, or even a cook or a baker. The marriage will not be a particularly happy one, and emotionally turbulent for you at times. Although it will last, there will be talk of divorce, but both of you will want to avoid it. He is currently, i.e., at the time of the question, having a romantic affair with a friend. Don't get jealous about this! You haven't met him yet, after all.

RESULT: The Seeker married in March 2012, just shy of 5 years. He was an Indian man raised in London. They met in Washington DC after both of them moved there for work. He is tall, lean, dark-haired, and dark complected. He is very good looking with a soccer player's lean musculature. When he was a child, he broke one of his baby toes on one of his feet, and it never set right, so it juts out from his foot. He had a career as a commodities broker, but left that in London, moved to DC, and was working at a nonprofit company. As they were dating, he insisted that he try to get her pregnant, as he wanted children and he wanted to make sure they were fertile together. The last I knew, they had two daughters. The Seeker told me that she was extremely attracted to him when they met, and that he is a rather self-centered person.

Although not 100% accurate (visible scar on foot versus jutting toe), it is more than sufficient to constitute a prediction fulfilled. Keep in mind, too, that traditional astrology is a rule-based discipline. Every thing I concluded can be easily justified from the chart. NO CLAIRVOYANCE ALLOWED. Your teacher would rap your knuckles with a ruler if you dared try to slip in psychic perception. The art must be guarded from nonrepeatable assertions, and its only guardians are those who teach and practice it.

We don't need psychic perception for astrology, anyway. The Goddess Above, the Queen of Heaven, already speaks plainly enough, if you will learn Her movements and language:

A Horary Astrology Chart

The Seeker had a cat that had been diagnosed with a terminal heart condition. She wanted to know when the cat would die by natural causes so she could determine whether to have the cat euthanized before that time.

Mr. Cat is Lord 6, Venus.
Mr. Cat's heart is Lord 10 (his turned Lord 5), which is Saturn.

One of the first things to notice here is that the South Node is in House 6, afflicting Mr. Cat. It is not a good start. Even more problematic is that Saturn, Mr. Cat's heart, is approaching conjunction of that South Node by antiscion (although it should be noted that it will not perfect that conjunction, as Saturn will go retrograde only to 18 Aquarius 35).

Another troublesome sign is that Neptune, the Lord of the Sea, is conjunct Venus, Mr. Cat himself, by antiscion. The terminal heart condition is causing build up of fluid in the body, and is that is probably affecting the kidneys (Libra).

Those features are simply the planets reflecting reality, i.e., the medical condition of Mr. Cat. They do not answer our question of when Mr. Cat will die.

In this chart, Death is potentially Lord 8, Jupiter, or potentially Lord 2 (Mr. Cat's turned Lord 8), which is Mercury.

Neither Jupiter nor Mercury, however, is going to make a bodily aspect to Venus any time soon, so we cannot time Mr. Cat's death by Death aspecting Venus. But, Mr. Cat is terminal and so the answer MUST be in the chart in some other capacity (astrology doesn't ever NOT work).

The next notable thing that Venus will do is conjunct the Sun at 29 Libra 33, i.e., in about 22 degrees. And then both the Sun and Venus will change sign, and move into Scorpio. Here is Mr. Cat's death.

Right now, Venus is combust by the Sun, but it occurs in Venus's own sign, so the combustion acts like a mutual reception. There is no harm in it. The ancients used to argue over this point, but observation over the last 2000 years has since proved the point conclusively.

But, as soon as the Venus/Sun conjunction takes place and the Sun changes sign into Scorpio, that mutual-reception-like feature will be broken. The Sun in Scorpio will carry Venus into her detriment, and Venus forthwith will enter the sign of her detriment and be severely combusted and greatly harmed by the Sun. Moreover, this will take place in House 6, Mr. Cat's own house.

That will be the point of Mr. Cat's death. It will occur in roughly 22-23 degrees. Right now Venus and the Sun are in a cardinal sign (Libra) and a succeedent house (the 5th), so the unit of timing will be medium. From the diagnosis, we know that Mr. Cat cannot possibly survive 22-23 weeks, so the timing unit must be DAYS.

22-23 DAYS would be the answer if Venus were moving at her average rate of speed of about a degree per day. But, she's not. She's moving at her fastest speed, about 1 1/4 degrees per day. At that speed, we can knock down our number of days by 4-5 days. So, Mr. Cat's natural life span will extend to about OCTOBER 22 or 23, which is 18 or 19 days after the question was asked.

Now armed with this information, the Seeker will be able to monitor the situation more readily and determine if euthanasia is a better option before that date.

*** Blessed be to those who serve the Great Mother and the Horned Father.

The Magister has been receiving quite a few hurricane-related requests for assistance over the last couple of days. Here is a redrawn chart from a worried Querent who asked whether her friend in Florida would be okay (i.e., safe) during the hurricane and its aftermath.

The Querent is represented by Venus at 29 Virgo and the Moon at 7 Scorpio. You can see how worried the Querent is. Venus is in fall, a terrible state of debility, and the Moon is fall, in the Via Combusta, and carries Venus into detriment. The Querent's emotions are doing a number on her mind. She cannot think clearly. She is in a spiraling state of alarm. She'll snap out of it, soon, though. Venus will enter Libra, her sign of domicile, and gain a huge amount of dignity. The overexcited emotional Moon will conjunct the Dragon's Tail and deflate into the proper perspective of reality. Those are good signs.

The Querent's friend is Lord 11, Mercury, Rx, at 25 Virgo. The friend is in her own sign and house, so that is a good sign. But Mercury is about to move into an opposition with Neptune, the Lord of the Seas, and the Earthshaker, as Homer calls him. Not good. But not unexpected, either. The friend, after all, is getting exposed to a HURRICANE. So, as always, the chart mirrors reality. An opposition: it will not be a pleasant experience, and the friend will probably have some regrets over it. And yes, it is a nasty Hurricane. A nasty Sun -- the Sun is in detriment in Libra -- is about to conjunct Neptune by antiscion, too.

But, will the friend be safe? She will. At least, she isn't going to die. We have two candidates for Death in this chart. One is the radical Lord 8. That's Venus. Venus is not going to aspect Mercury. Mercury's moving backward away from Death/Venus. The second candidate for Death is the lord of the friend's turned House 8, which is radical House 6, giving Jupiter as the Lord, i.e., the second possible mask for Death. Mercury Rx and Jupiter Rx were recently conjunct by antiscion, but they have been moving away from each other since then. Sure, Mercury will soon enter STATION and turn DIRECT, at which point it will probably catch up with Jupiter. But that's too far out in the future to concern us and, moreover, remember the rule: conjunction by antiscion cannot show a death. In answer to the question, "Will my friend die?" the Queen of Heaven is not saying, "No, child," but "HELL NO, child!"

So, the friend will go through a terrible and wet experience thanks to Neptune-Earthshaker-Lord-of-the-Seas, but she will live. So says the Queen of Heaven.

Who Is My Biological Father?

The Querent is a 32-year-old female in a Caribbean country. Q’s mother had some mental health issues, and would never tell Q which of two certain men was her father.

Q described Man 1 as ASSERTIVE and STUBBORN and present in her life off-and-on. Q is not fond of Man 1, and he is no longer in her life.

Man 2 was described as JOVIAL and FRIENDLY. Man 2 was not present at all during Q’s childhood, and he is now deceased.

Q is Lord 1, Mars, and the Moon. Since this question is really about the body and not the emotions, it is better to stick with Lord 1. So, Mars = Q.

Which of the planets represents Man 1? SUN in SCORPIO would certainly be assertive, and stubborn in a fixed sign.

Which of the planets is Man 2. Easy: Jovial = Jove = JUPITER. Notably, she has also told us he is dead. I haven’t marked it on the chart, but Pluto, the planet of the Lord of the Dead, is at 22 Capricorn, conjunct Jupiter.

In questions like this, you can absolutely count on the Q’s descriptions of the people (or other choices) to be reflected in the chart. THEY MUST BE. THE Q AND THE QUESTION ARE SMALL COGS IN THE UNIVERSAL COSMOLOGY, AND COSMOLOGY DOES NOT STOP WORKING. IT IS NOT FLEXIBLE. IT DOESN'T TAKE A BREAK OR GO ON VACATION.

Anyway, so what do we have. Does Mars have any contact with the Sun or Jupiter? Yes. Mars has just retrograded over Jupiter, by SQUARE aspect. Jupiter is the last thing Mars touched. The Sun is not involved at all. Therefore, JUPITER is the father.

Ethical astrologers ordinarily do not take questions like this, unless there is some reason. Here, there was a reason. Q had some genetic medical issues, and was wondering which family medical records to pursue.

Usually, if a Q asks you: “Who is my father?” You should answer without a chart: “The man who raised you.”

But, if a chart answer is going to save someone’s life, potentially, then do a chart and answer it.

Chart for: Where is My Spouse's Lost Cell Phone?

One of the more useful things that diviners can do is find lost objects. It's a great indication of skill, too, because there is no fudging this. If someone comes to you and asks, "Where is my wallet?" or "Where are my keys?" or "Where is my phone?" you must give a direct and correct answer. Nonsense answers such as pad most readings these days---"you need more balance in your life," or "you have suppressed artistic abilities that you are not using," or "you appreciate others, but others do not appreciate you," and other "cold reading" or "life coach" or "unlicensed counselor" shyster interpretations---aren't going to fly. You either know where it is, or you don't.

Here, the querent wanted to know where the spouse's lost cell phone was.

This chart clearly shows, exactly and in detail, that the spouse's phone is in a car, wedged between the seat and the car door, underneath the window.

And so it was.

A Chart Shown To Me Recently By a Student

The student's friend was taken to hospital, and the student immediately consulted the heavens to determine if his friend would die.

My answer was: Yes, almost immediately. Imminent death is shown by the immediate applying square between Mars (playing the role of the Friend) and Mercury (playing the role of Death). If you are skilled, you will also note that Mars and Mercury not only aspect bodily, but that they are immediately applying to conjunction by antiscion. This is not an uncommon pattern -- two aspects indicating death quickly following one another. The first usually indicates functional but not literal death, where the person lapses into unconsciousness or coma, and the second usually indicates literal death a few hours later.

So it was here. The friend had passed over by the next morning.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

One commonly hears the opinion these days that one CANNOT predict death by means of divination. That is 100% verifiably false. One CAN and, in most instances, quite easily, even unto timing the death. Whether one SHOULD predict death is another question altogether, and involves ethical considerations. I, personally, will calculate dates of death if a person can convince me there is a good reason for doing it. Otherwise, I will not do it.

Soon I will post one of my own charts on death. My brother called me to tell me that my mother was taken to the hospital in the middle of the night and, in his words, "it didn't look good." He sounded worried, and that made me worry. I immediately consulted the heavens to determine whether she would die and, if death was not imminent, what the problem was. I knew within the hour what it took her doctors days to determine.

*** Blessed be to those who serve the Great Mother and the Horned Father.
