Astrology: Dead or Alive?

A useful aspect of astrology is finding missing people and lost objects. Businessperson and adventurer Steve Fossett had gone missing on September 3, 2007, while on a solo aviation flight from Smith Valley, Nevada toward California. Search and rescue operations turned up nothing. I took a chart from an interested party about six weeks later, in mid October 2007, who wanted to know whether Fossett was dead or still alive.

The Querent is House 1 and Jupiter, but we can ignore him.
The Querent was not related to Fossett, who therefore gets House 7 and Mercury.
The natural ruler of a missing person is the Moon, but we will keep that in our back pocket for a bit.
Death might be either radical Lord 8, here, the Moon, or
Fossett's turned Lord 8, which is radical Lord 2, or Saturn.
Rewinding back the time of the chart, the last thing that happened to Mercury/Fossett was a conjunction from the Moon in Scorpio (the debility of fall). The Moon is Lord 8, so it can play the role of Death here. And the Moon in fall descriptively fits a falling death. Moreover, as soon as the Moon entered Scorpio, Mercury first went stationary---unmoving---and then retrograde. Then the Moon conjuncted Mercury. Further than that we need not go. That is definitive proof of death, both astrologically and symbolically. Mercury was ascending in its degrees, then started descending in degrees, then a falling Death conjuncted it. And so I told the Querent. As you can read in the above article, proof of the crash and Fossett's death was not found until about a year later.
