The Heroes
Nov. 20th, 2023 01:25 pmAs part of the lecture on the Theory of Dark Magic, I talked about a type of dark magic that involves invoking The Heroes of one's country in defense of one's country. This is a strong current of magic amongst old Witches in England---*very rarely* used, but *always* preserved and passed from one generation to the next---and it is from my old Witch Mother in England that I first learned about it. This type of magic---invoking the Past Heroes of one's land to defend against an invasion---is not bad or evil, but it is very heavy in its energies, and that is why it is usually classed with more advanced types of magic.
There are few covens in the United States that work with The Heroes. If one were going to, the first thing you would do is come up with a list. You needn't go for the obvious of people who were high generals or brave soldiers, but we are talking about invasion and bombs and bloodshed, so you would need to pick people with some grit, martial understanding, and reliability. During the lecture, I made the point that Susan B. Anthony was a manifold blessing to this country. Although she had grit and reliability and sound principles, she does not spring to mind when I think of martial understanding and the preservation of life. For that reason, I would not put her on my list. By way of contrast, I said that Stagecoach Mary (Mary Fields) definitely made my list.
Here's her biography. And a photo of her below.

Blessed be, Stagecoach Mary, one of the Mighty Ones of this country.
