Negative people throw around jinxes like you would not believe. Most people have strong, self-confident auras and little jinxes just bounce off of them. Some people, though, are very susceptible to getting jinxed, either because of some constitutional weakness or because of some temporary stress in their lives. By a jinx, I mean a very minor curse, usually unconsciously cast by a nonWitch out of feelings of annoyance or jealousy. The "Malocchio" of the Italians, and the Evil Eye of other cultures, falls under this category. [1] If it's just the jealous frenemy or neighbor overlooking you, or the rival business associate wishing you would fail in your endeavors, or the irate old lady you cut off in traffic who is wishing you a bit of ill, that's easy to deal with.

If you are Witch yourself, you can break a minor jinx on yourself by adding a good bottle of stout to a warm bath (the Hops in the beer is the jinx-breaker). Have a soak. Dunk your head a couple of times. Pray to the Goddess to release you. She will.

Don't have a stout? Substitute a strong black cup of coffee and throw it in the bath, instead. Do as above.

For a Witch to break a minor jinx on a nonWitch is very simple. There are many, many techniques for this, and a good Witch can make any of them work. My favorite, because it is a bit mischievous, is to catch the jinxed person unawares, when his or her back is turned, throw an open pair of scissors near (but not at) the person's feet, and chant in Italian:

BURST, EVIL EYE!
THOU SHALT NO FURTHER GO!

(Schiatta, malocchio!
E non piu avanti!)

The startling, the scissors, and the chant, together, break the Evil Eye.

Another good Evil Eye remedy is the use of iron. A Witch will find it easy and effective, and even a nonWitch can easily unjinx someone with this spell. Take a piece of iron. An old rusted iron nail is good. An old iron key. A scrap square of iron. Whatever. You are going to use your iron to touch the jinxed person at six points of his or her body while you say a certain charm:

KON VEK ORCUR LE BA GRAS

Have the jinxed person face you. Take your iron and touch and chant as follows:

iron to his right hip: KON (pronounced "cone")
iron to his forehead: VEK (pronounced "veek")
iron to his left hip: ORCUR (pronounced "OR-cur")
iron to his right shoulder: LE (pronounced "lee")
iron to his left shoulder: BA (pronounced "bah")
iron to his right hip again: GRAS (pronounced "grace")

Repeat the whole procedure two more times, for three in all. Then have the person go take a shower.

The chant has a good rhythm. After a few practice tries, you will see that it practically says itself.

As for the meaning, it is one of the magical languages, and it translates literally: No can curse you do harm. Or Englished: No curse can do you harm.

That's also six words, so if you prefer to use it in English, do so.

[1] Now, if you've got a skilled Witch casting the Evil Eye on you, that's a different story. Burn an orange candle and call your local witch doctor in the morning. :D
